When it was first thought up sometime around 2010-2012, "Sixteen Minutes at Saint Augustine High" was originally meant to be a novel, but while plotting/writing it, school shootings picked up and became more commonplace. Due to this fact, I cut it down to a short story as to not have it seem like I was trying to profit off of the trauma that these events cause. I had already finished the first chapter which I decided to still self publish as a short story.
It is through the eyes and thoughts of the first responding police officer at a shooting at his local high school. As terrible as that is, it also happens to be the school where his son attends. Feel the internal battle between duty and family in this intense story.
